Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Pool hours?
The Old Trail Swim Club is open from 10am - 9pm seven days per week during the regular season. The season begins on Saturday, May 26th, 2012. The Fall Season a shortened operating schedule begins on the first day of school for Albemarle County.

When can I get my pool passes?
Membership pass distribution begins Friday, May 25th, 3pm - 6pm at the Swim Club pool house. Swimming tests for children 12+ will also be conducted during this time for those children whose guardians wish for them to have solo swimming privileges. Passes will only be issued to those members who have paid in full and have signed the appropriate release forms.

I haven't yet signed a Release Form. Why can't I swim?
The Release Form is a requirement of Old Trail Swim Club, LLC. All adults, whether members or guests, must sign the release form prior to being allowed into the Pool complex. No exceptions.

Can I buy a day pass?
No. You may join the Old Trail Swim Club through the purchase of a full-season membership. Rates for 2012 are as follows:

Family (household): $720, 2-Person (Household): $465, Individual: $350

Children under the age of 1 year old are not counted as full users; therefore, if one parent and baby wish to join, that parent would only have to pay for an Individual membership.

May I bring a guest?
Guests are allowed with Members of the Swim Club. There is a limit of 4 guests per Membership. A Membership includes 2 free guest passes; once those are used, additional passes/admission may be purchased at the gate for $5/each.

Are there lifeguards?
Yes. There are always lifeguards working when the Pool is open for swimming or other activities.

May I drop off my children to swim without me?
Yes, if your child is at least 12 years of age and has been cleared by the Lifeguards to swim alone by passing a swimming test. More details are available in the Pool Policy Manual. Violation of this policy will result in the suspension and possible termination of membership.

I forgot my pass and/or ID - can I swim anyway?
No. To protect our members and ensure their quiet enjoyment of the pool, a proper pass and ID is required for each and every visit.

I noticed weird-looking little lights on the building that never seem to be lit. What are they?
The Old Trail Swim Club is under continuous, recorded video surveillance. Cameras surveil the locker room entrances, pool entrance, and pool areas.

What happens if there is a thunderstorm or other inclement weather?

If the Lifeguards see lightning or hear thunder, all members and guests will be asked to clear the pool and pool deck. Swimmers will be allowed back into the pool area 30 minutes following the last spotted lightning and 15 minutes past the last audible thunderclap.

If heavy rains are predicted for an entire day, Pool Management may decide to close the Swim Club for the day. Notices of closing will be posted at the Pool Complex and online. Check www.OldTrailVillage.com/News for any announcements regarding possible closings. You may also follow @OldTrail and @OTSwimClub on Twitter for closing announcements.

Occassionally, the pool may close unexpectedly for unscheduled maintenance and cleaning. This is unfortunately out of the control of Swim Club staff and is unavoidable.

What is the policy about smoking?
Tobacco products (including smokeless forms, cigars, cigarettes, and pipes) are not allowed at the Swim Club. Members and guests that use tobacco on the pool deck may be asked to leave.

What is the policy regarding alcoholic beverages?
Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on the grounds of the Old Trail Swim Club, including the parking area. Persons bringing alcohol to the pool may be ejcted immediately and have their membership terminated without refund.

Is there food and drink at the Pool?
There is a water cooler providing free water for members and guests, as well as a Pepsi machine dispensing water and other soft beverages. You may bring food to the pool, especially that from the Old Trail Village Center. Anna's Pizza delivers to the Pool. Glass containers are not allowed.
